Pa. LCB Fires Employees After ‘Financial Irregularities'

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board has fired more than 20 employees at its largest warehouse store following the discovery of financial irregularities.

The employees at the South Philadelphia warehouse store were dismissed Friday following an internal audit. Chief executive officer Joe Conti called the irregularities "widespread" but
declined to discuss specifics.

Conti tells The Philadelphia Inquirer that all clerks and managers at the store had been replaced. He says preliminary findings have been turned over to the state police.

The head of the union representing the warehouse clerks says the union would file grievances to get those workers reinstated. He declined to discuss details of their dismissal.

The Liquor Control Board's warehouse stores are open to bars and restaurants that have liquor licenses.
