New Charges for Female 2nd-Grade Teacher Accused of Sexually Assaulting Teen Girl

A New Jersey teacher accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl is facing more legal problems.

Bergen County prosecutors say 32-year-old Lauren Mitchell, of Lyndhurst, violated a judge's order by allegedly trying to contact the 15-year-old victim.

The girl attends a Jersey City school where Mitchell is a second-grade teacher. Authorities say the teen got two telephone calls from a restricted number last month and a text message in which the sender used Mitchell's "pet name'' for her.

The Record reports that the girl didn't answer the calls or the one-word text.

Mitchell was charged last month with aggravated sexual assault and child endangerment. That came after several teachers told school officials about what they believed was inappropriate behavior between Mitchell and the girl during a class trip.

Mitchell maintains her innocence.
