Man Sentenced to 9 Years in Jail for Possessing Child Pornography

A southern New Jersey man who admitted to distributing images of child sexual abuse from his home computer has been sentenced to nine years in jail.

Thirty-eight-year-old Donald Kivel was sentenced Thursday after previously pleading guilty to one count of receiving child pornography.

The Palmyra man admitted to downloading child pornography on peer-to-peer sharing software in June and July of 2011. He admitted to possessing more than 600 images of child pornography.

U.S. District Judge Joseph Rodriguez also sentenced him to 10 years of supervised release and to pay $19,980 in restitution.

U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman credited agents from FBI's Newark Division for their work on the investigation.
