Man Accused of Motel Murder Can't Fire His Lawyers

A judge has ruled that a man charged in a slaying at an eastern Pennsylvania motel can't fire his lawyers.

Twenty-five-year-old Jeffrey Knoble is charged in Northampton County in the March death of 32-year-old Andrew "Beep" White.

Authorities call the victim a "good Samaritan" who rented a Quality Inn room for Knoble because he had no place to stay.

Knoble last week sought to fire his public defenders, complaining that they were urging him to accept a plea bargain calling for a life term without parole.

Judge Emil Giordano denied the request Tuesday, calling his allegations vague and unsubstantiated.

He said the right to have an attorney appointed doesn't include the right to an attorney of one's choosing, and without more specific allegations, Knoble won't be allowed to "attorney shop."
