Lane Closures Begin on I-95 in Northeast Philly

Lane closures have begun on I-95 in Northeast Philadelphia.

Northbound and southbound I-95 will be reduced from four lanes to three between the Bridge Street and Cottman Avenue interchanges this week Tuesday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The far right lane will be closed in each direction as crews obtain soil samples from the shoulders of the road to evaluate subsurface conditions. It’s all part of a project to improve the Bridge Street interchange and rebuild and widen 1.3 miles of I-95.

The project is in its final design with the first of three contracts scheduled to go to construction in 2016.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time for travel as slowdowns may occur.
