Gas Leak Shuts Down Major New Jersey Road

The rupture of a gas pipe in Burlington County, New Jersey forced the shut down of a major roadway Friday afternoon.

The pipe, located near U.S. 130 and Burlington Road in Bordentown, N.J., began leaking around 1:40 p.m., county dispatchers tell NBC10.

Officials shut down the northbound lanes of Route 130 as a result. Evacuations of the nearby Bradford Point Apartments may be necessary, officials said.

The cause of the rupture is unclear, but officials said there is construction going on in the area.

The roadway was reopened around 2:30 p.m.
