Fugitive Attorney Flees to Va. Hilton Garden Inn

Defense attorney D. Scott Perrine, 31, cut off his electronic-monitoring bracelet, slipped out of his Center City apartment March 25 and set his sights on freedom--in Arlington, Va.

But liberty was short-lived for Perrine, who was arrested by Washington FBI and Arlington police Friday afternoon, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Perrine was placed under house arrest for charges of contraband and possession of a controlled substance, the paper reported.  He is accused of bringing a vial of cocaine into the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility when visiting one of his clients back in October 2007.

Perrine was wanted on a bench warrant at the time of his disappearing act.

Apparently, Perrine ditched his apartment for a Hilton Garden Inn hotel room in Arlington, police said.  Philadelphia authorities got wind of the wanted vacationer and stated he was staying at the inn under a different name.

Perrine may have been able to slip out of his anklet, but couldn’t change his appearance.  Police approached him outside the hotel and Perrine denied he was the man on the β€œwanted” flier, according to the paper.  But, his fingerprints told a different story.

Perrine was taken to the Arlington County Detention Facility and it is unclear when he will be taken to Philadelphia.
