Former New Jersey Congressman Remembered

Former U.S. Rep. Robert Roe of New Jersey was remembered as a tireless public servant.

About 100 people turned out in Wayne for the Democrat's funeral on Monday. The 90-year-old died last Tuesday.

Roe served 23 years in Congress, chairing the Public Works and Transportation Committee before he retired in 1992.

Former Rep. Frank Guarini, who served with Roe, tells The Record  newspaper Roe's greatest legacy was always there for the people.

Guarini, who’ll be 90 next month, said in an interview afterward that Roe “was one of the best legislators New Jersey ever had.” The two served together in Washington and, Guarini said, choreographed their 1993 retirements. - See more at: http://www.northjersey.com/news/roe-remembered-as-a-congressman-who-was-always-there-for-the-people-1.1054987#sthash.MZ7dT3Wq.dpuf
