Trenton police arrested a man for allegedly knocking a bronze statue of a firefighter in front of City Hall off its base and breaking the head off the monument.
Police say Kylike Fischer, 28, is charged with criminal mischief.
Officials tell The Trentonian the damage was done around noon Sunday.
An official with the Trenton Firemen's Benevolent Association says a witness told a security guard, who told police.
βA witness had seen a man jumping on the statue,β Robert Bland, Vice-President of the Trenton Firemenβs Mutual Benevolent Association Local 6, told the paper.
The statue is more than a century old and memorializes firefighters who died in the line of duty.
It's been moved to the Trenton Fire Department's museum so it will not be damaged further.
