Husband, Wife Killed in Del.

The death of a couple ruled double homicide

The deaths of an elderly man and his wife inside their Sussex County home were ruled a double homicide, Delaware State Police announced Friday afternoon.

Earlier Friday, State Police said they were investigating the deaths Harvey Cashwell, 76, and his wife Carolyn, 66, as "suspicious."

Here is what police have told the media. On Thursday at 5:30 p.m., troopers were called to a home on the 28000 block of Liden School Road in Greenwood. Neighborhood residents told police they had not seen the couple who lived inside the home since last Sunday. Troopers went inside the house where they found the bodies of the Cashwells.

Both victims were removed from the scene and turned over to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy that revealed that they were killed. Details of the medical examiner's findings weren't released as Delaware State Police detectives continued to investigate the deaths Friday afternoon.

NBC10 is working to find out how and when the Cashwells died.

Anyone with information on the deaths is asked to call Det. William Porter at 302-531-5892 or the Crime Stoppers line at 1-800-TIP-3333. Tips can also be submitted anonymously online.
