Gunshot Victim Crashes Head-on Into Tractor-Trailer

A driver is in critical condition after he was shot several times and then crashed into a parked tractor-trailer in Philadelphia early Wednesday morning.

The incident began about 2:30 a.m. when police say a 47-year-old man sitting in his SUV was shot several times at Green and Manheim Streets in the Hunting Park section.

The man drove away from the scene, but a short time later he slammed head-on into a parked big-rig at Germantown Avenue and Pike Street.

β€œFor several minutes, he was actually trapped in the vehicle from the auto accident. His legs and lower extremities were trapped and crushed inside of the vehicle. Medics used the Jaws of Life,” Chief Inspector Scott Small explained.

The unidentified driver was rushed to Temple University Hospital where he’s listed in critical condition.

Investigators said they found 12 bags of crack cocaine in the passenger seat of the SUV. The incident is being investigated as a possible drug-related shooting.

So far, no arrests have been made.
