Deadly School Bus Crash Kills Car Passenger and Sends Student to Hospital

Authorities in central Pennsylvania say a crash between a car and a school bus killed one person in the car and sent a student from the bus and others to hospitals.

Officials in Cumberland County said a coroner was sent to the scene after the crash was reported in Monroe Township at about 12:45 p.m. Tuesday.

County spokeswoman Megan Silverstrim confirmed that there were students on the bus and said one of them was taken to a hospital, but that student's injuries weren't considered life-threatening.

She said several people from the car were also taken to a hospital and no information was available about their conditions, although they were taken at what she called "our highest level of transport."

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
