Bucks County Woman Charged With Embezzling $830,504 from Airgas

A Bucks County woman is being charged by information for allegedly embezzling $830,504 from her employer and filing a false income tax return, the U.S. Attorneyโ€™s Office in Philadelphia announced.

Joan Baranek, 57, of Yardley, Pa., was a vice president for sales at Levittown, Pa.-based Airgas Safety, a subsidiary of Airgas, which is based in Radnor, Pa.

She was reportedly in charge of designing and managing a sales incentive program for call centers.

She would allegedly purchase promotional items, like gift cards, with her personal American Express card, and then submit expense reports to Airgas for reimbursement.

Between May 2006 and December 2012, Baranek is alleged to have altered or even created fictitious invoices, prosecutors reported. Read full story here
