A 6-year-old boy is in the hospital tonight after getting hit by a car in Northeast Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Police say the driver stayed on the scene of the crash. This was not a hit-and-run as authorities originally reported.

The accident happened on Byberry Road near Depue Avenue. The boy was taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital with a broken leg. He's in critical, but stable condition.

Police tell NBC10 the driver will most likely not face any charges.
