Addiction Treatment Center to Open in Wealthy New Jersey Town

An addiction treatment company is planning to open a rehabilitation center in one of southern New Jersey's wealthy towns, and some locals are not happy about the idea.

The 19-acre site in Haddonfield now used as a school for students with intellection and developmental disabilities has been the subject of contention for years.

School operator Bancroft last year announced it was moving to a new home and selling to the highest bidder after voters rejected a bond measure that would have turned the land into open space and sports fields.

Bancroft is selling to Recovery Centers of America.

Brian Kelly, founder of a group that campaigned against the open space plan tells the Courier-Post the drug treatment center plan is ``highly inappropriate and incongruous with its setting.''
