A young girl is hospitalized after she accidentally shot herself in the West Oak Lane section of the city, police tell NBC10.

Authorities say the 8-year-old girl and her 7-year-old brother found a gun inside their grandfather's safe in their home on the 1900 block of Georgian Road.

They say the girl was playing with the gun when she accidentally shot herself in the right arm.

The victim was rushed to Einstein Medical Center where she is in stable condition.

Four adults were in the house at the time of the shooting, according to police.
