7 Parish Schools Close in Philly Area

Archdiocese says the schools are closing because of low enrollment

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia plans to close seven parish schools later this year.

Diocese officials say four schools in Philadelphia and three in neighboring Bucks County will close at the end of the school year because of low enrollments.

The affected schools in Philadelphia are Ascension of Our Lord Parish School, Saint Anne Parish School, Saint Cyprian Parish School and Saint Hugh of Cluny Parish School.

The Bucks County schools closing are Our Lady of Fatima Parish School, Saint Martin of Tours Parish School and Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish School.

The schools had projected enrollments for next year ranging from 99 to 151 students. Those numbers represent declines of between 12 and 56 percent in the last five years.
