Judge: Jon Must Return $180,000

A judge ordered Jon Gosselin to return $180,000 he removed from a bank account he shared with his estranged wife Kate Gosselin, says Kate's lawyer Mark Momjian.
"Mr. Gosselin must repay this sum by on or before October 26, 2009, and if he fails to do so, he must appear before the Court for contempt proceedings," Momjian said in a statement Thursday. "The remaining sum of $55,000, which Ms. Gosselin used for household bills and expenses relating to the children, will be subject to further determination by the arbitrator at a later date."
The controversial couple that can’t seem to keep their mouths shut didn’t have much to say as they left a Norristown courtroom this morning.
The Gosselins appeared in court to settle mutual accusations that each has stolen money from a joint bank account, but no settlement was made. The hearing was continued until Oct. 26.
When asked how he thought the hearing went, the cigarette-smoking Jon told reporters outside the courthouse, “I don’t know, I’ve never been to court before.”
While Judge Arthur Tilson did not say exactly what today’s hearing was about, he did tell reporters that after meeting for an hour, the soon-to-be-divorced couple was unable to come up with an amicable agreement.
Kate recently accused Jon of removing $230,000 from their joint bank account. Jon came back with similar accusations about Kate. Tilson said that by the Oct. 26 hearing all the money missing from the joint bank account should be returned.
Despite her recent declaration on the Today Show that she would continue to wear her wedding ring, so as not to confuse her children, Kate showed up to the courtroom sans ring Tuesday.
While Kate was mum outside the courtroom this mroning, she did make a statement later in the day.
"As difficult as this has been for me, I am pleased that the Court has ruled fairly on behalf of myself and my children," said Kate. "Now that this matter has been ruled on, I look forward to returning to private arbitration, as we have agreed to do, to resolve any remaining issues."
