Loud Booms at Princeton Battlefield 350th Anniversary

Princeton residents will hear an occasional booming sound this weekend. It's a canon being fired at the Princeton Battlefield as part of the New Jersey 350th Anniversary. In 1664, England formally designated the colonial territory as New Jersey.

The Princeton Battlefield event is a three-day event that began Friday, Sept 26. It continues Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. Throughout the day a "town crier" alerts visitors of the different events; Royal Artillery demonstrations; displays from the National Marine Corps Museum; military encampment demonstrations-cooking, laundry, spinning, medicine and others; musket drilling for kids and even ice cream making.

There are many other NJ 350 events being held this weekend around Princeton. To see a full list go to the Princeton Battlefield Society website.
