Ursinus College Offers Video Service After 192 Students Are Sickened

Ursinus College is offering a special video service after nearly 200 students were sickened by a stomach illness this past week.

The college announced that Jefferson University Hospital is offering all Ursinus students free video visits with Jefferson doctors through Feb. 29, 2016.

“This is a relatively new offering from Jefferson through which you don’t necessarily have to leave your dorm to get care if you feel sick—think FaceTime or Skype, just with an emergency physician,” a school spokesperson wrote.

Ursinus students should check their email for an app and passcode to the video service. Officials also advised the students to still notify Campus Safety and the Wellness Center of any symptoms they have. For more information on the video service, CLICK HERE.

Ursinus College’s weekend activities were canceled as officials continue to investigate the cause of the illness, which sickened at least 192 students. The school's dining hall was closed after students began complaining of vomiting, diarrhea and stomach pain Tuesday night. But health inspectors found no issues there, so the dining hall has reopened.

On Saturday the college posted inspection reports from the Montgomery County Health Department after they conducted a comprehensive review of the Wismer Dining Facility. You can view those reports HERE and HERE.
