The environmental group PennFuture says it has hired a new president and CEO.

PennFuture said Monday it has hired Cindy Adams Dunn, a long-time top aide in Pennsylvania's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, which manages state-owned forests and parks.

Since 2008, she's been the agency's deputy secretary for conservation and technical services, leading its work in landscape conservation and overseeing bureaus in charge of recreation, conservation and topographic and geologic surveying.

Before her work at DCNR, she was executive director of Audubon Pennsylvania. PennFuture chairman David Lane says Dunn is the right fit for the group's mission of promoting clean energy.

"We're delighted to have Cindy with us as she is eminently qualified to lead the organization's work tackling air, land and water issues throughout the Commonwealth," said Lane. "Her skills as a manager combined with passion for the environment will prove invaluable as we continue to address climate change and promote a clean energy economy."

PennFuture was founded in 1998. It has staff in Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Wilkes-Barre.

Former president George Jugovic Jr. stepped down and heads the organization's law staff.
