In the midst of strong winds, rain and flooding caused by Sandy, residents in Brick Township are also dealing with several fires, according to police.

Police say there are a number of fires in the town, though they don’t know the exact number of structures that are involved because they can’t gain access to the main roadway, Route 35. They are currently working on making access to the road.

To make matters more difficult for officials, the Mantoloking Bridge is also closed for inspections after it was struck by debris.  The debris includes remnants of a home that may be underneath it, according to officials.

Police have not yet released information on anyone injured in the fires.
