Fire at City Ave. Houlihan's

Kitchen fire turns into 3-alarm blaze

Thick smoke could be seen pouring from the City Avenue Houlihan’s in Bala Cynwyd, Pa. Wednesday afternoon forcing evacuations and causing damage.

Fire broke out around 5:30 p.m. at 555 E city Ave.

The exact cause of the blaze wasn’t immediately released but a cook at the restaurant said that it started in the kitchen as he was cooking wings and "things got out of hand."

The restaurant was evacuated as people at the nearby City Ave Spring Fling looked on.

Before the flames were extinguished the fire went to three alarms.

Luckily no one was hurt.

But the restaurant was visibly damaged including at least a half dozen broken windows and some apparent smoke damage. It remained closed Wednesday night.

No one from Houlihan’s could be reached as to when they plan to reopen.
