Funeral Today for Teen Killed by Train

Gentile and Dowart were part of a suicide pact

Friends and family will gather Monday for a final goodbye for one of the two girls killed by a high-speed Acela train in February.

Gina Gentile, 16, and her friend Vanessa Dorwart, 15, died after stepping onto the tracks at the Norwood Train station on Thursday, Feb. 25. Police said the teens met up at the station with the "intention of taking their lives."

A third teen, who had also planned to join Gentile and Dorwart, "changed her mind...yelling at the two to get off the tracks," but they refused, according to police.

Earlier this month, friends of the girls and Chio, the morning DJ from Wired 96.5, helped the girls' families raise money for their funerals.

Gentile's funeral will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 8 at St. Gabriel's at 233 Mohawk Avenue in Norwood.
