Could Karen Soak Our Region?

Remnants of Tropical Storm Karen could give the Philadelphia region a soaking.

Forecasters say the storm's track remains a work in progress, but Karen is predicted to lash the northern Gulf Coast over the weekend as a weak hurricane or tropical storm. Remnants of the storm could then track northeast toward Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

The National Weather Service says there's the potential for heavy rain Monday into Tuesday.

NBC10 First Alert Weather meteorologist Bill Henley says the slow-moving storm could meet a cold front in our area late Monday leading to potentially heavy rains.

Forecasters say flooding is possibility if 1 to 2 inches of rain falls over a short period of time.

Even if Karen doesn’t reach our region, Henley said a cold front cold still bring rain early next week.
