From Popcorn to Bodychecks, Flyers Mascot Gritty Living Up to His Name

If you're worried about Gritty living up to his name, don't be.

The guy was all over the place Thursday night during the Flyers' preseason game against the Rangers at the Wells Fargo Center.

The new mascot is already personifying grit with his unselfishness, his hustle, his do-whatever-it-takes mentality.

For instance:

A pair of New York fans thought they were going to quietly enjoy a game on Gritty's turf while wearing Rangers apparel.

Not so fast.

Gritty selflessly gave up eating for the night by dumping two giant bags of popcorn on the Rangers fans. You know, just making his presence felt.

And there are no breaks for Gritty. During first intermission, he started throwing his weight around.

He showed off his wheels during the second intermission. Shirts were actually shot into the stands this time.

Now, Gritty gear is hitting the team shops. He's pumped about it, too.
