With Injuries Mounting, Eagles Add CB D.J. White to Practice Squad

With several injuries at the position, the Eagles on Monday morning signed 26-year-old cornerback D.J. White to their practice squad.

White was a sixth-round pick out of Georgia Tech in 2016 and played in 13 career games with the Chiefs and then the Colts in 2016-17.

So at least the Eagles have another viable backup waiting if they feel like the position isn't healthy enough heading into this Sunday's game against the Jets. The Eagles also have undrafted rookie corner Ajene Harris on the practice squad too.

Here's a recap of every cornerback on the team and where they stand:

Ronald Darby

Darby has a relatively severe hamstring injury and is expected to be out another few weeks.

Rasul Douglas

The third-year corner out of West Virginia has been one bright spot in the rotation. He's played fairly well this season. He's a starter going forward.

Sidney Jones

Jones suffered a hamstring injury against the Packers and played just 10 snaps before leaving the game. We'll learn more about his status later this week.

Avonte Maddox

The nickel cornerback suffered a concussion late in Thursday's game when he took on some friendly fire from safety Andrew Sendejo. The injury looked much worse than it was, but Maddox is in the concussion protocol.

Craig James

The relatively unknown player had a huge PBU at the goal line against Aaron Rodgers. It was his third-career defensive snap in the NFL. He joined the Eagles on the practice squad in early September.

Orlando Scandrick

The Eagles signed the 32-year-old veteran on Friday after more injuries at the position. He can fill in as the nickel CB for as long as Maddox is out.

Jalen Mills

Mills is still on the PUP list for a foot injury he suffered last year. He won't be eligible to return to game action until Week 7 against the Cowboys in North Texas.

Cre'Von LeBlanc

LeBlanc is on the injured reserve for a foot injury of his own. He would potentially be eligible to return in Week 9 against the Bears.

Meanwhile, White was with the Colts' practice squad last season. He spent this past August with the Redskins, but failed to make their roster. His most playing time in the NFL came in 2016 with the Chiefs. As a rookie, he played in 11 games with three PBUs and one interception.
