Some Folks in D.C. Still Itching to Be Offended by Things Bryce Harper Says

D.C. still seems extremely salty about Bryce Harper's departure.

Our cousins at NBC Sports Washington took offense to some of Harper's comments to John Clark, comments they interpreted as shots at the D.C. sports scene.

An excerpt:

But mainly, his biggest insult was his backhanded comment on the D.C. sports fan base as a whole.

In speaking on the Philadelphia Eagles parade, which Harper watched 'about a million times,' he indirectly states that D.C. sports fans don't share the passion of Philly fans.

'That was the cool thing about coming to a city that loved all their sports teams if that's the Flyers, Sixers, Eagles or [Phillies]. It's such a great fan base for every single team and to have such a young core with every single team that's in this city it's really, really fun.'

Nowhere in there did Harper say it was a contrast to what he experienced in the nation's capital. He just acknowledged that Philly is a great sports city. Which it is. Compared to D.C., it's a no contest.

But Harper didn't even go so far as to say that, so ... the post was kind of a stretch. You wonder at this point if Harper's scorned ex-lovers are searching for reasons to be offended. Just some D.C. insecurity playing out in front of us all.
