Jon Dorenbos has completed his final act as a member of the Eagles. On Monday night, Dorenbos, who signed with the Eagles nearly 11 years ago and played in 162 games for the team, was traded to the New Orleans Saints for a seventh-round pick in 2019 (see story).
A fan favorite because of his personality, third-place finish on America's Got Talent for his magic act, and his play on the field (a two-time Pro Bowler), there was a very strong reaction on social media to the move.
His now ex-teammates sent messages of support.
Definitely going to miss @JonDorenbos Not only a great guy but a true Philadelphia Eagle! #FlyEaglesFly

Who is going to make me laugh everyday? @JonDorenbos is the kind of guy that lights up the room! Good luck bro!— Torrey Smith (@TorreySmithWR) August 29, 2017
The fan reaction, however, was as negative as we have seen in recent memory for a trade. Here's a sampling of how the fans are reacting to the move.
Eagles fans, do you like the move?— CSN Philly (@CSNPhilly) August 29, 2017
Trade Jon Dorenbos for a 7th round pick? A guy who has been here and so loyal to this city for over a decade?
Absolutely delusional.— Eagles Fans⚡️ (@NoPhlyZone5) August 29, 2017
Honestly somewhat outraged. #Eagles trade LS Jon Dorenbos to #Saints for 7th round pick.— Eagles Nation (@PHLEaglesNation) August 29, 2017
weak trade on the Eagles part. Saved pennies on the dollar for a durable LS and great locker room presence— B. Miller (@MillerTime006) August 29, 2017
@Eagles So sad to hear of the trade of Jon Dorenbos #angryfan

I'm gonna miss Jon Dorenbos — Sixers 2018 Champs (@sittin_on_25MIL) August 29, 2017
Dorenbos was actually the second long snapper traded Monday as the Colts traded for long snapper Thomas Hennessy. Howie Roseman must like the value of a draft pick for the 37-year-old Dorenbos, but he'll hear from a lot of angry fans should the Eagles have any snapping issues this season.
