Eagles Pick Up Veteran Linebacker D.J. Alexander on Waivers

Even though the Eagles had the dead-last spot in the waiver claim, they were still able to pick up a player they liked.

The Eagles claimed linebacker D.J. Alexander, who was waived by the Seahawks, a league source confirmed. Philly.com first reported the move.

By claiming Alexander, the Eagles will have to release one of the players who initially made their 53-man roster. All waiver claims had to be in by noon today.

Alexander, 26, was a fifth-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2015 out of Oregon State. He was drafted in Kansas City while Doug Pederson was still coaching there. In his second and final season in Kansas City, Alexander made the Pro Bowl as a special teamer.

Alexander was traded last July for LB Kevin Pierre-Louis.

In his three NFL seasons, Alexander has played in 32 games and has started one. The Eagles begin practice this week today thanks to playing on Thursday Night Football.

Alexander tweeted that he's excited to join the team.
