After a career marred by injuries Brian Westbrook wants to prove to the doubters that he is still an elite running back.
B-West believes he can still be a dynamic running back for the Eagles even as he recovers from injuries that cost him the entire preseason.
Westbrook had surgery in June to remove scar tissue and bone fragments from his right ankle. He also had his left knee cleaned out shortly after the Eagles lost to Arizona in the NFC championship game last January.
Westbrook feels fresh and hopes he'll be back to normal after only a few carries, head said Wednesday. He believes he can be counted on to carry a full load in Sunday's opener at Carolina.
Westbrook has the pedigree of greatness. He broke the 1,000-yard rushing mark twice (2006/07) but he also just turned 30 -- an age seen as the end for many backs.
Even as age and injuries take their toll on Westbrook, he said he can still play at an elite level.
"I think I still can do a lot of dynamic things with the ball in my hands," Westbrook said.

He will have a chance to prove his elite status right out of the gate as the Eagles open at Carolina against star-running back DeAngelo Williams and the Panthers.
