Obama Admin Mulls Steeper Afghanistan Pullout

President Obama’s security team is considering steep troop reductions in Afghanistan due to the extreme cost of the war and the recent death of Osama bin Laden. The New York Times reports that while the question of logistics is still being debated, officials anticipate an early drawdown of 3,000-5,000 troops. There are also talks of a separate timetable in which all 30,000-surge troops will be withdrawn from Afghanistan, though that is a ways down the road. Already, the soldiers of the famed 101st Airborne Division, the army's front-line infantry, are headed home.
