Gynecologist Lovers Sold Drugs on Underground Website: Police

Delaware officials have suspended the prescribing privileges of a doctor facing federal charges involving illegal drug sales on the underground website known as Silk Road.

Officials said Tuesday that Secretary of State Jeffrey Bullock has ordered the temporary suspension of the controlled substance registration of Dr. Alexandra Gold of Newark.

Gold and her live-in partner, Dr. Olivia Bolles, were arrested last month. The two OB-GYNs were charged after federal undercover agents in Florida tracked shipments of drugs bought on the website to Delaware.

A detention hearing for Bolles was scheduled for Tuesday in federal court in Wilmington but was postponed.

Gold, an instructor at Johns Hopkins University's medical school, was charged with conspiracy and released on $50,000 bond after allegedly telling investigators she helped Bolles package drugs for shipment.
