Police Investigating After Woman Found Shot Dead in Philadelphia Playground

A woman was found shot to death at a Philadelphia playground overnight, and police on Sunday were working to figure out who killed her and why.

Police said officers were called to Nicetown Park, on 17th Street near St. Pauls, at 11:43 p.m. for gunshots. There, they found the victim, a 26-year-old woman, lying face-down on the ground, suffering from several gunshot wounds.

Medics responded and pronounced the woman, whose identity was not released on Sunday, dead at the scene at 11:54 p.m., police said.

Police are continuing to investigate the woman's killing and said they did not yet know a motive on Sunday.
