Woman Faces Trial on Charges She Torched Detective's Home

A woman has been ordered to stand trial on arson charges for allegedly burning down a police detective's house.

Police say 52-year-old Donna Krupp set fire to a synthetic Christmas tree on the porch of Limerick Detective Ernie Morris' home on Dec. 4.

Krupp and Morris are neighbors in Lower Pottsgrove Township. Authorities say Krupp held a grudge against the detective because he helped investigate her son.

At a preliminary hearing Thursday, prosecutors said Krupp looks like the woman seen on surveillance video burning the Christmas tree. They say she owns clothing and a lighter that match those seen in the footage.

Krupp's lawyer argued those items are commonplace. He called the allegations "mere suspicion and conjecture."

The Morris family wasn't home during the blaze. The house was destroyed.
