Ursinus Taps Claremont McKenna Dean as New President

Ursinus College has tapped a dean from Claremont McKenna College to be its new president.

S. Brock Blomberg will lead the Pennsylvania liberal arts school starting July 1.

Blomberg currently serves as dean of the Robert Day School of Economics and Finance at Claremont McKenna in southern California. He's also a scholar of the economics of terrorism.

Ursinus trustees announced Blomberg's appointment Thursday. He replaces an interim president who stepped in following Bobby Fong's unexpected death last year.

Blomberg taught at Wellesley College and served as a visiting scholar at Harvard University before arriving at Claremont McKenna in 2003.

He also worked in various capacities with the International Monetary Fund, World Bank and Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Ursinus serves about 1,650 students in the Philadelphia suburb of Collegeville.
