Student Accused of Shooting Teen on Chester School Bus Surrenders: Police

A teenager accused of shooting another teen on a crowded school bus in Chester Wednesday is now in custody.

Police say the unidentified 16-year-old Chester High School student surrendered to police Friday and was charged in the shooting.

The incident occurred on a Durham School bus on West 9th Street and Highland Avenue shortly before 11 a.m Wednesday. The teen suspect allegedly took out a gun and fired four shots, striking another 16-year-old student in the buttocks. Police say 29 other students who were on board fled the scene as the shooting took place.

Police and paramedics responded to the shooting. The victim was taken to the hospital. Officials have not yet revealed his condition.
