Bob Koch owns a tree service and landscaping company in Northeast Philadelphia that he’s worked hard to build up. But he suffered a setback after police say thieves broke into his storage unit at Extra Space Storage on Grant Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, stealing a half dozen chainsaws worth $4500 in all.
“I got here, looked at it and just shook my head,” said Koch.
Koch is not alone. Rob and Patricia Page reported more than a thousand dollars worth of electronics were stolen from their storage unit on Saturday.
“I think it’s pathetic they can just break into somebody’s things and steal just to make a dollar when I’m out there making an honest living,” said Rob Page.
The rash of thefts is a growing concern in Northeast Philadelphia and grabbing attention citywide.
“We’re notifying every public storage facility throughout the city,” said Philadelphia Police Captain Joe Zaffino.
