Violent Night in Philadelphia Leaves 3 Dead, 2 Wounded

Overnight gun violence left three dead and two wounded in multiple shootings in Philadelphia.

Gunfire rang out around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 3000 block of N. Howard Street in the West Kensington neighborhood. Police said a man began to argue with Jovanni Ouola from the 5900 block of Belden Street in front of a home. The second man then pulled out a gun and shot the 19-year-old several times, including twice in the head. Ouola died a short time later at Temple University Hospital.

The second shooting happened about 1 a.m. on W Colona Street near Waterloo Street in Kensington. Investigators said bullets struck an unidentified man in his 20s in the face and back. Medics pronounced him dead on the scene a short time later. A

About 10 minutes later, and only a few blocks away, a 15-year-old boy suffered wound to his arm and back along the 100 block of W. Susquehanna Avenue when a gunman began shooting up cars. the boy was treated at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in stable condition.

Investigators believe those two shootings could be related due to their close proximity.

The fourth shooting happened around 1:15 a.m. along the 6700 block of Marsden Street in the city's Tacony section. Medics pronounced at 29-year-old man dead from gunshot wounds to his head and neck. Investigators found a second victim -- a 28-year-old -- inside a nearby home on the 4600 block of Unruh Avenue suffering from bullet wounds to his right side and back. Medics rushed him to Aria Health - Torresdale in critical condition.

So far, no arrests have been made. All the shootings remained under investigation Thursday.
