Starting on Sunday, SEPTA passengers traveling through North Philadelphia neighborhoods will be able to go further on one of the transit authority's busiest bus routes.
Route 53, which originates at Wayne Avenue and Carpenter Lane in West Mount Airy, is being extended to G Street and Hunting Park Avenue in Juniata Park. The extension covers Feltonville and Juniata Park, and connects with several north-south SEPTA routes.
Only certain trips will extend to the new destination, while others will continue to end at Broad Street and Hunting Park Avenue, according to SEPTA.
