Police Identify Suspect in Deadly Pedestrian Hit-and-Run

Ceeanna Pate died on Wednesday after suffering severe head trauma

Philadelphia Police say they have identified the woman responsible for running down a 19-year-old mother-of-two as she walked down a city street.

Ceeanna Pate, 19, was walking in the bike lane on Clarissa Street in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia last Friday when she was hit.

She was rushed to Temple University Hospital in critical condition with severe brain damage and passed away on Wednesday.

Police say they identified the woman responsible and on Thursday submitted charges to the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office to move forward with an arrest.

The woman's name is not being released because those charges have yet to be approved, police say.

A DA spokeswoman did not have comment on the case.

Pate had just turned 19-years-old last month. Her father, Steven Pate, told NBC10 earlier this week he was enraged that someone could hit his daughter and not stop to help.
