A Good Old Fashioned “Knife Fight” With an Executive Chef Job on the Line

Local Chefs Alex Boonphaya and Silvestre Rincon competed in a “knife fight” Thursday to showcase the new menu for their new restaurant Tuk Tuk Real, and to see who would become executive chef.

Boonphaya and Rincon — both currently chefs at Circles (812 N. 2nd Street) — put their best dishes forward and gave 38 guests a chance to choose the winner. In the end, Rincon won 408-390, and earned himself a $700-Korin Japanese chef knife and the title of executive chef at the upcoming Tuk Tuk Real (429 South Street), slated to open in August.

For the contest, dishes were served to guests without revealing which chef cooked it. Read more about this story on PBJ.com.
