Off-Duty Officer Struck in Hit-and-Run

Philadelphia Police are on the hunt for a hit-and-run driver who injured one of their own.

Investigators say an off-duty officer was traveling north on Farragut Street and Walnut in his pickup truck shortly before 5 a.m. on Saturday. Suddenly, police say, his truck was struck by a car which quickly fled the scene.

The officer, a 30-year-old man and 5-year veteran of the force who works in the 18th District, suffered facial lacerations and was taken to a local hospital. He is currently in good condition. Police have not yet released his name.

Investigators say the hit-and-run vehicle is a Charcoal Gray, Mercury Marquis with heavy front end damage.
