An off-duty Deputy Fire Chief jumped into action Friday afternoon when a person working out at the same gym had a health emergency.
Joe Edwards, a Deputy Chief of the East Brandywine Fire Company in Chester County, was working out at Planet Fitness in Downingtown when another gym member went into sudden cardiac arrest, according to a post on the fire company's official facebook page.
Edwards then jumped into action to assist the patron by performing CPR and using an AED to shock the person in distress.
The person regained a pulse and was taken to the hospital, according to the post.
There was no information about the identity of the person in distress or what their condition was after leaving the gym.
