Federal authorities have arrested a New Jersey resident for allegedly attempting to defraud a sovereign nation.
New Jersey's U.S. attorney's office says Bobby Boye was arrested Thursday at Newark Liberty International Airport while re-entering the U.S. from a trip abroad.
The 50-year-old Franklin Lakes resident is charged by complaint with one count of wire fraud conspiracy and six counts of wire fraud for allegedly orchestrating a scheme to defraud an unnamed country of more than $3.5 million.
It was not immediately known if he has retained an attorney.
Prosecutors say Boye served on a committee responsible for evaluating bids for a multi-million dollar contract to provide legal and tax accounting advice to the unnamed country. Boye allegedly abused his position to award the contract to a sham firm he controlled.
