Man Seriously Hurt in Boat Explosion

A man is in the hospital after a boat fire in Sea Isle City.

A man is in the hospital after a boat fire in Sea Isle City.

It happened Monday afternoon at the Sea Isle City Marina at 42nd Place, according to NBC 40. Officials say Frank Haney, the owner of Hooker Sports Fishing, was putting gas into his boat “Hooker” when it exploded.

Crews arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire within 10 minutes, according to NBC 40. A nearby boat was also damaged.

Haney suffered serious burns to his upper body and was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. He was then flown to Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Pennsylvania where he is in serious condition.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the explosion.
