Pennsylvania Attorney General Kane's Twin Sister Sued Over $200,000 Loan

The twin sister of state Attorney General Kathleen Kane is being sued over a $200,000 loan by an FBI agent who was her boyfriend.

Kane's twin, Ellen Granahan Goffer, was sued in Lackawanna County Court last month by Jacob Wentland III, of Dunmore.

Goffer has worked as a state prosecutor since 2008. After Kane was sworn in as attorney general in 2013, Goffer was promoted to chief deputy attorney general of the office's child predator section.

Wentland says in his lawsuit that he loaned Goffer the money in 2012 so she could buy a new home in Clarks Summit while trying to sell two other homes. The lawsuit says he moved out for good in March 2014 after their relationship soured and she has not repaid the loan.

Wentland, who was assigned to the FBI's Houston office when he began dating her in 2009, accepted transfers to Washington and then to Scranton with the intention of marrying her, according to the lawsuit.

Telephone messages left for lawyers for both sides were not returned Thursday.

Kane's spokesman Chuck Ardo said he could not comment about employees' personal lives.
