Supreme Court Justice Breyer Reminds Students TV Judges Are Just Entertainers

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer had to remind a group of students that reality TV court shows are just entertainment.

At the same time, he says he has watched some himself.

Breyer's comments came during a town hall-style meeting Thursday with more than 300 middle and high school students at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.

Asked why TV programs like "Judge Judy" don't have juries, Breyer said the participants in the cases are volunteers and the shows are entertainment. He said their real purpose is to sell soap, or "whatever they're trying to sell."

He told the students he watches sometimes, too, but ``don't tell anybody.''

He also said he carries a copy of the Constitution in his pocket and that Abraham Lincoln is his favorite president.
