A Delaware woman has been arrested after she allegedly threatened and robbed a clerk at a popular beach town motel.
The robbery happened around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday. when Michelle L. Bloothoofd entered the Econo Lodge on Coastal Highway, police said. Bloothoofd allegedly approached the man working at the counter, demanded money and told him she had a gun.
The employee told the woman there was no money, and then he went into an office and called 9-1-1, investigators said. Bloothoofd threatened to shoot the employee through the door, but instead took $400 from various drawers behind the counter, according to police.
When the first trooper arrived, he told the woman she was under arrest and the woman was subsequently taken into custody. After searching the suspect, officials found her to be in possession of the stolen cash, according to Delaware State Police.
Bloothoofd was charged with robbery, resisting arrest, terroristic threatening, and failure to comply with taking of photo or fingerprint. She was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $28,000 secure bond.
