Coroner IDs Father, Daughter Killed in Suspected Murder-Suicide

A coroner has released the names of a Pennsylvania man and his 9-year-old daughter who are victims of a suspected murder-suicide.

Adams County Coroner Pat Felix says autopsies will be performed Tuesday on the bodies of 36-year-old Donald Powell Jr. and 9-year-old Codie Powell, though both clearly suffered gunshot wounds.

Littlestown police say the shooting occurred just before 3 a.m. Sunday. A woman with a gunshot wound to her shoulder met officers outside before officers found her dead husband and daughter inside.

Police Chief Charles Kellar says it appears Powell shot his daughter before killing himself, but a final determination won't be made until the autopsy results are available.

The rural central Pennsylvania county hadn't had a homicide since 2012 before the Powell shootings and another fatal shooting the week before.
